Spanish Greyhounds in desperate need

There is an urgent appeal on facebook about 64 Spanish greyhounds which desperately need saved. Galgos del Sol is coordinating the rescue and thankfully a number of dogs have already been moved to safety, but there’s just so many of them.

You can read about the on-going rescue on their facebook page (and make a donation):
https://www.facebook.com/login/reauth.php?next=https://www.facebook.com/update_security_info.php?wizard=1#!/pages/Galgos-del-Sol/175718192447988?sk=info

And their official site is here:

Am I right in thinking the AGM is this Sunday? Just curious cause there’s usually a forum/website update close to the time as a reminder but haven’t seen one.

Easy Fundraising

Not sure if everyone on the forum is aware of Easy Fundraising. It’s a site which donates money to GAL each time you buy something on it but it offers great discounts.
I was absolutely delighted when I received my statement a few days ago and saw that £51.41 has been raised for GAL - and even more delighted that my donation totalled £35.25.
Just thought I’d let anyone that isn’t aware of it that it’s an easy way to give to the dogs.

Wow! what a fantastic amount of money has been raised. Well done to everyone who has supported GAL but special thanks to the committee for all their hard work in organising the fayre, I think we all appreciate the hard work that’s involved before and after such an event. We had a brilliant day - I don’t think I’ve seen so many people & dogs together - and no major conflicts between the dogs. It was wonderful to hear about the dogs who now have new homes, always sad to know that there are so many dogs needing help. I think Fagan stole everyone’s heart he’s so lovely and so deserves to be spoiled in his twilight years - will be watching his progress. Cathy

For those of you who don’t follow the GAL Facebook page. Here’s a list of the dogs homed at the Christmas Fayre, 6 in all !
Prince went to Paisley, he’s staying with his foster family.
Jasper was in foster for 2.5 days in Rutherglen,he’s now staying there.
Wilma2 is off to live in Eaglesham.
Leo was a last minute adoption to Lochwinnoch.
Wilma1 went to Kilsyth.
Woodie officially went to his fosterer in Cumnock.

They were put on the Facebook as the website was out of action for a few days.
1 other was “reserved”,
Indie, who is a recent incomer met her new family, and will be adopted soon.
Eddie also has an admirer.
As usual the homeless hounds were on their best behaviour and done GAL proud.

And We’re Back!

Hi Everyone,

As you can see, the forum is now back online. We had to do a bit of an emergency server switch over the weekend. When getting things back up I prioritised the main site so all the information and application and donation processes were back online on Sunday night. The forum has taken slightly longer, but it’s back now. The only thing remaining is the web calendar, which I’ll keep working on.

Now we’re back, if you find any issues with the site or the forum then feel free to email me on webmaster at gal dot org dot uk or PM me here. Switching servers is a nightmare at the best of times, even worse when you didn’t build the original, so there might still be a few things acting a bit funny.

Sorry for any inconvenience caused.

Ian

Available Dogs..Happy and Sad

I’ve just been looking at the Available dogs page and am HAPPY to say only four of the eleven dogs pictured are awaiting homes, the rest are in their new homes and will be taken off the “available” list when they have been through the follow up procedure we have to ensure the dogs are settled with their new families and teething troubles (if there are any ) are resolved.
I’m SAD to say the other seven will be replaced by even more homeless hounds very soon as there is a never ending list of ex-racing and unwanted Greyhounds and Lurchers out there.

If you think you can give one of our loving dogs a home, please don’t hesitate. Fill in an application to adopt straight away or why not try fostering, look after one of our dogs until they find their forever home, could be a couple of weeks or longer. But do it now !

Paul,

Mika and Jake’s dad ( and Homing co-ordinator ).

Thanks to everyone who has generously donated online to the Homeless hounds secret santa appeal. There are still a few weeks left till Christmas, so still plenty of time to help brighten up the festive season for our hounds in kennels:

The secret santa sack will be at the Christmas Fayre on Sunday if you’d prefer to donate a toy, treats, clean coat or bedding.
