Agression towards other dogs

Hi, I am looking for some advice please.
Woodie has started to show aggression towards other dogs.
There are times when he is playing with Bailey and it can go a bit too far and we have to intervene, he also tends to bully Alfie a bit too during these playtimes. He seems to be jealous if Alfie tries to play with Bailey and he growls and snaps at him. Its never went any further than that.
However when we are out walking its a different story.
The last couple of weeks he has taken a dislike to quite a few dogs we have passed on our walks and he is growling and baring his teeth at them. We have him muzzled at all times when we are out now because of this. Last night we passed another dog on the opposite side of the street and Woodie was desperate to have a go at it. He was like a dog possessed, growling, barking and pulling me to try and get to it. its getting quite worrying and I dont want Alfie to be influenced by Woodies behaviour and think this is ok.
We have never had a problem like this before as Bailey has always been good with other dogs and so has Alfie. Not quite sure how to handle it.
We dont understand why he has started this as he was fine before and is always well behaved at GAL events when there are lots of other dogs around.
Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Gillian

Seafield Road Greyhound kennels

Does anyone know anything about these kennels? I passed there last Tuesday and was so sad to see around a dozen (at least) greyhounds lying about in pretty horible surroundings. They are right next to the main road and susceptible to the cold that blows off the sea. I emailed Edinburgh Council, but they said the owner was moved here so that they could build on the land he was occupying before, but they don’t have any details of the owner. I’m so sorry and worried about these dogs; when I think of our own on warm sofas and love and these are lying in dirty yards….....

Advice Please :)

Good Evening Folks!!

I was looking for a wee bit of advice if possible

Not wanting to wish our lives away but we are fast approaching the Firework season, living in the Eastend of Glasgow, Fireworks are set off if the day ends in a ‘Y’

After Poor Pepper-Pots antics last November 5th, a friend recommended a ‘potion’ from Holland and Barrett that is ‘safe’ to be given to dogs. Basically, its a few drops in their food everyday, a few weeks prior to the event and it apparently prevents the severe anxiety caused by fireworks.

Question is, has anyone heard of this magic potion, and if so, is it safe to give to our beautiful pups???

Logi-Bear seems slightly more highly strung in nature than Pepper, and with poor Pepper suffering last year, I reckon I’m gonna have 2 stressed out boys…..Luckily, I’m not working that day, so at least I can stay at home with them

Meikka of course wonders what all the fuss is about

Thank you so much xx
AGM Postponed

In light of the fact that some GAL members did not receive their AGM invites and the added complication that the address for sending nominations changed after the letters were sent, the committee has come to the decision that the best course of action to take is to postpone the AGM till a later date.

Letters will be in the post to members from tomorrow advising of the postponement with a further letter being sent to all members once a new date for the AGM has been arranged. The GAL constitution allows for 15 months from one AGM till the next.

The committee would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused but felt that under the circumstances there was no other choice but to postpone the AGM.

Hi all, firstly i apologise for not being in touch sooner as my internet was off.

I had two weeks saving grace with Spoonie. I was told he didnt have bone cancer but after his biopsy came back it showed he did have cancer, cancer of the soft tissue and it was spreading.

Spoons was placed on very strong painkillers (tramadol) and they did nothing for him, he has been in pain for the last few weeks. Today I sat with him as he was put to sleep (The most heart breaking time i have ever experienced)I know it was the right thing for him but still my heart is broken. Bess is missing him so much already.

I have arranged (thanks to my mother) to have Spoonie cremated and we will get him back on thursday.

I just want to thank everyone at GAL for your support (without question or judgement) You have no idea how much strength you have given me. I will always be in your debt.

I know my big lad will be running free right now and painless and it gives me comfort.

Thank you. x Neil & Bessie

Mr Spoons - rest in peace my beautiful boy. I will always love you.

Hi all, Im so sorry I havent responded sooner.

Spoonie went for an xray on thursday last, thinking he had bone cancer. I was called at 2.40ish telling me that he was to be brought out of his sleep as they could not say conclusivly (spelling) that it was bone cancer, he does have a growth there but we dont know what it is.

He came back home and is now on strong medication ( Im worried as he is still whinning and I think in pain) I have him back next thursday so Im hoping he will be better. Im a little confused right now. But he is home and im making the most of that.

Thank you all for your kind messages. Im still very confused at what is happening.
