I am so sorry to hear that loki has been so ill and been through so much over the last few weeks - you all have.

Hawkeye and I are sending you big hugs and hopes that Loki will soon be back on his feet and you’ll have a definite course of treatment to follow.

Loki is a real fighter and obviously pleased to be home, where he will make quick progress.  WTG, Loki.
Congrats on passing your test considering everything on your plate!

thanks everyone - i’m sure the sympathy vote of talking about my poor sick doggie the whole way round didn’t do any harm!

loki’s getting on so well - it’s almost like they let out some demons when they opened him up. he’s not been sick at all, and we’ve not only increased his food but introduced the ID kibble, too - which stayed down. we’ve been holding up his bowl for him and it’s definitely helping, we’re going to buy a food stand for him at the weekend so that he can have his food elevated permanently.

he’s much more energetic - and has even begun jumping up on the bed/couch, and shunting doors open with his snout again, something he was unable to do at the start of the week. we’ve not been for any walks, just out the back garden, but i’ll take him for one when the weather gets better over the weekend - he’s still very thin and even with a coat, i’d feel guilty having him outside for too long, especially knowing how much he hates rain!

still no news back re the biopsy, but will keep you posted - many thanks again for all of your well wishes and positive thoughts x

Great to hear how much better Loki is doing grin  Here’s hoping he continues to improve.

There’s loads of stands available for bowls, I got Branny’s from Argos, I think it was about 12.99 and holds both his water and food bowls at a great height.

Well done Loki!

unfortunately loki started being sick again on friday night - i put it down to eating to fast/much, as we’ve been gradually upping his food so it could have been it just hit his limit…however, on sunday night, and last night, he was sick all through the evening - it seems the only thing he can keep down at all is his tinned id in the mornings - and at that he gets about two spoonfuls.

another horrible development is that allan found blood in his stools last night.  he has been passing normally up until now, but over the last few days it seemed very painful for him.

allan called the vet this morning, and they’re ringing him back after the open surgery finishes. they’re also hoping to have the biopsy results back this afternoon, so hopefully that will reveal a more permanent solution.

aside from this, he is still quite happy in himself - or seems to be. his scar is healing well and isn’t painful to the touch, he loves to be right near us - and jumps up on the couch next to me at every opportunity. we still get waggy tails, and lots of affection- although every time he is sick he gets so dozy, which is understandable. he’s lost a horrific amount of weight, which is so painful to see, because there’s nothing we can do to feed him up right now.

i’ll keep you posted as to how the results turn out..x

ps -on another note, i did buy a double feeder stand from argos - the first time we used it both mutts were incredibly confused (what’s this! my food’s meant to be on the floor!!) - but short of having to keep an eye on loki to make sure he doesn’t “help” mia finish hers, it has been great….well, no choking directly after feeding anyway smile thanks for the hint on that one! x
