i think knowing now that, with care and attention, that he is able to keep food and water down, really does help. now that we’ve got a condition to work with, rather than not knowing what’s wrong with him, it means that we can try to find more and more answers.
it does make me happy as well that, in terms of managing the condition, it’s more time and patience that are required than lots of treatment - unfortunately to get this far we’ve reached about £3,700 of our £4000 claim limit for this year, up until next Feb, due to all of the procedures and his emergency operation (thank goodness for insurance!) -and so knowing that we can help him without having to worry financially is also a huge weight off of my mind.
he’s slept so well recently- his first proper deep sleeps in months, and while there are no signs of weight gain as of yet, at least he’s keeping food down. he did regurgitate a little food last night, but it just slipped out of his mouth - there was no struggle, and no hours of choking to keep the food down - and as a result he was fine for the rest of the night. i think he’s adapting as much as we are! i managed to get a large feeder bottle from pets at home so, while he prefers the syringe for now, means that he can drink to his heart’s content without our help.
my next challenge is making mia feel a bit more special
hehe. she’s been so good over the last few months, and i think she understands on some level that loki is getting so much attention because he’s not well, but i’m going to take her out just me and her at the weekend - and leave the boys at home! - as i’m sure that a bit of time out on her own herself will make her really happy…
