Donnie walked into my home on Saturday afternoon, climbed on the sofa and has stayed ever since.
He acts like he has never been away and has been the perfect distraction for me at such a desperate time.
I am not so sure Nell feels the same way, she totally ignores him - although she has been caught snuggling up with him at the sitters - and when he had the audacity to give a half-hearted growl when she walked up as he was lying next to me on the sofa she gave me such a look of disbelief, ie who is he kidding, that I struggled to hide my amusement as I told him off.
Donnie has very quickly slipped back into the routine he had as a foster and it feels like he never left.
He cuddles up to me on the sofa and is so happy that it puts a smile on my face. He is not replacing Byron but he is certainly helping me feel better.
I honestly feel my boy Mason saw that Byron was sick and sent Donnie back because he knew.
It sounds daft I know, but everything happens for a reason and how else do we explain these things?
Pix will follow!
Marie
I think you could be right Marie, things do happen for a reason and I hope you will all be happy, as you say Donnie is helping you through a difficult time, it just softens the blow a wee bit.
This perfectly illustrates how fate plays such a big part in our lives - what is meant to be will be. As Cesar Millan (Dog Whisperer) says - ’ you don’t get the dog you want, you get the dog you need! ‘.
What a wonderful and lucky outcome for Donnie too. Look forward to seeing pictures and meeting him at some point. Will you have him at the walk?
I think that is a great expression. I got Meg when I was unemployed and down about a lot of things and she completely changed my life. She came along at a time when we both needed each other and that’s what you and Donnie have done for each other. He will never replace Byron but he will definitely help you cope. Can’t wait to meet him on Sunday.
That’s great, Marie. Glad you have found such a lovable distraction to help you through such dark hours. I did wonder when I heard that Donnie had come back if he would somehow find his way back to your sofa.
