Finally a foster dog whose name didn’t need to be changed!
Biscuit is a 4.5 year old blue brindle lurcher.  Unfortunately he has a thyroid problem (which is now being treated with meds) so he’s quite thin and bald - also very scabby but I can’t see that being related to his thyroid, most likely just rough living conditions.
Biscut was trained to hunt with ferrets and has thus far shown no interest in our (or other) cats - except when she’s eating and I think it’s just the food not the cat that peaks his interest!
He’s a sweet little dog, good on lead, house trained and cuddly.  Next week he’ll visit the vet to get a ‘snip and chip’ and have his thyroid prob re-assessed.
He was very stressed his first evening with us but has now settled down, sleeps through the nite and is relaxed.

He is so beautiful. What a lucky boy to have you, Bruce, Coal and Jingle looking after him. Thank you so much for taking him at such short notice. We are very looking forward to seeing him at the rodeo.

He is a fabulous boy and with a lot of TLC, which I know he is getting, will be ship-shape in no time. Thanks for the pix Laura!

Oh Laura,

What a wee stunner…. just as well he wasnt at the Spring Fayre or I would def have broken my own promise of no more dogs… he is adorable! Hope his thyroid problem settles down and he finds his forever home soon (before temptation kills me and I expand the mini-tribe of cats and dogs further!)

Keep us updated on this wee hearthrob please….

Everyone wish Biscuit good luck as he goes to the vets tomorrow for his neutering, vaccinations and microchipping.  Just in time for the neutering as last night he decided Jingle was quite attractive and tried to ‘put the moves’ on her.  She respectfully declined his advances but did tolerate ear washing/nuzzling.  Very sweet smile

Hi Laura

All the best for Biscuit tomorrow. He’ll be a much happier boy without those ‘urges’!
He is quite the most beautiful dog I have seen in ages and I keep thinking that he would make a great pal for Shadow!!!  Mustn’t think like that.  Willow would think she had died and gone to heaven if I ran around constantly shouting “Biscuit”  LOL  Hope he gets the most fabulous home and family soon.

Hi Laura,

Hope all goes fine for Biscuit tomorrow. He is a huge hit in this house, my sons phoned home from their holiday in Florida last night and both of them were asking if he was still available…. feeling like I am fighting a losing battle to resist.

Hope wee guy recovers quickly.

Hugs especially from Joshua and Nathan across the miles!

Hi Laura. Just saw this post. Give your boy a big hug from my troop. Let us know how he is later. Can’t wait to meet him at the rodeo.

Biscuit’s back from the vet and doing fine - aside from being snoozy he doesn’t seem to realize anything else has been done.

Biscuit was previously diagnosed with a thyroid issue but after talking to past vets and examining him, the vet treating him thinks its quite unlikely that he does have a thyroid problem.  He does have a skin infection which can be treated with antbiotics and apparently hair/fur loss is often mis-diagnosed as a thyroid problem.  He’s due back in a fortnight to ensure the antibiotics did the trick.

We also found out that when Biscuit was younger he had a bad break in his back leg.  The edge of the bone is starting to get rough and may be causing a bit of discomfort.  He certainly doesn’t run around much compared to Coal.  After his skin/thyroid issues are under control, he may need some treatment (prob painkillers) for the leg.  Poor little guy.

Also Biscuit would like to say thanks for the compliments - especially those coming from overseas! smile Hopefully he’ll get even better looking when his skin clears up and hair grows back!

Hi Laura,

Great to hear Biscuit is doing ok post-op. Hope his antibiotics help the skin infection clear up - Ollie had same last summer and a few wks meds worked wonders - he remains baldy in patches due to his permanent steroids….. these poor boys doing the moth-eaten look, lol.

My sons are gutted that they fly home the Saturday of the Rodeo, so they might not get to meet Biscuit - I’m not ranking highly in popularity stakes after breaking that news!

Hugs to the bold boy from all my motley crew.
