Barclays offers £50,000 each to 10 best business ideas

Barclays is offering £50,000 each to the top ten business ideas submitted to its Take One Small Step competition. The competition is open to existing businesses (and charities and voluntary organisations are of course businesses) or start-up businesses. It aims “to find people with ambition, passion and, most importantly, a great business idea”.
The only apparent restriction to a charity entering is that “winning entrants will be required to open a Barclays Business Current Account if they do not currently have one”, according to the terms and conditions.
Entry is online and entrants are encouraged to submit a two-minute video to summarise and promote their entry. The competition is regional and involves the public voting on a shortlist.
The closing date for entries is 23.59 on 16 May 2010.

have you ever heard of the ‘cat cafes’ that they have in Japan? it’s because the landlords over there are really strict, and of course apartments are smaller, so many people aren’t able to have pets, even though they want them.

so! someone set up a cat cafe, where you pay to go in by the hour, and spend time with all of the cats, either just watching them (as some people have never been close to a pet before) or giving them treats, cuddles. It’s apparently relaxing and theraputic, and people love to go in and seek companionship from these kitties.

Do you think you could set up a hound cafe?! I’d happily pimp out Mia to give paws and cuddles!!

Ok, maybe back to the drawing board… smile

That’s a fantastic idea Kate! in my dug-less state i would happily go to a place like that for my hound fix! Could this venture be made mobile and possibly travel as far as Elgin?  grin

Hello Karen_f

If you are needing a hound fix in the Elgin area Alex and I will be spending a week from 22 - 29 May in a cottage by Dufftown with Willow (greyhound) and Shadow (lurcher).
We will certainly be visiting Elgin during that stay so if you are in need of a hound cuddle we’d be happy to meet up for an hour or two if you happen to be free.

I was dog-less for a couple of years before I got this two and I know how much I missed having canine company.  PM me for contact details if you fancy meeting our two - no pressure though - it’s not compulsory! LOL

Cheers

Allison

On a similar note to city farms and cuddle corners! I bet a hound cafe would be extremely popular -  but how would you protect the food? Counter-surfers and theivin’ lurchers could put one out of business!! smile
