Hi Eric and Fiona,

Thought it had been a wee bit quiet on the Lana front!  Good news to hear that there may be an underlying cause for all her wee ailments and hopefully a cure.  Fingers crossed that insurance will pick up the tab for any investigations.  Will be waiting to hear what transpires.

Hi Eric and Fiona, I have only heard of cushings disease in hmans not dogs!
However, if the vet decides that this is what Lana has then i am sure it is managable like diabetes rather than something that is curable, which is a good thing if you can get to the bottom of her problems. Lana is so lucky to have found such caring, patient owners to take care of her.

I thought we were overdue a Lana episode….unfortunately she didn’t disappoint!!!

I had a quick read of the symptoms, Lana certainly ticks plenty of the boxes. Let’s hope your insurance stumps up, it would be great if you could get to the bottom of what’s wrong and get the right treatment for your lovely girl.  I know i don’t really need to say this but keep us posted!!

I only know cushings disease through horses as two of my friends have horses with this condition.
The effects can be controlled by tablets but I think can be difficult to diagnose. The vet we took GAL dogs to in Larkhall started talking about it one day (not in relation to a GAL dog, he suspected the dog that had been in before had it) I think they normally refer the dogs to the vet school to confirm diagnosis but not sure if all vets do that.
Definately worth looking into thoroughly even just for peace of mind.

Poor Lana, she certainly keeps you on your toes! I’ve only heard of Cushings disease in small dogs when they get old and its often misdiagnosed as diabetes initially. It would certainly explain her symptoms, hopefully you can get a definitive answer and the insurance covers a proper investigation and management.
Hugs to Lana,

We’re getting her tested this week, even if the insurance doesn’t cover it we’ll make sure she has the best treatment.  She’s such a sweetheart.

Thanks for all the support. Lana, like all the other dogs in the world deserves all we can give them.  She’s one of our babies!

Fingers and toes crossed for a favourable outcome from Lana’s tests. She’s such a good wee girl and she deserves to be comfortable and free from all her wee “Lana flare-ups”.

Waiting to her how it all goes.

Hope Lana’s doing well.
On the bright side, at least knowing what it wrong with her means the vet will know how to treat the problems.

Thanks, booked in to get tested on Thursday so there is light at the end of the tunnel.  In the meantime, tonight she managed to cut her paw on gawd knows what, rushed to vet and another dressing!  Vet we saw today doesn’t think the “wound” on her back is a wound, and thinks that possibly the cushings meds will help put some fur back on it.
