we successfully adopted Rebel yesterday from the gala day. He’s settled well and found the sofa and the bananas in no time at all!! spent today having a good look around the place and walking the local hills. everyone loves him and he’s loving all the attention!!! he’s already a part of the family!! pics of our handsome new boy to follow!!
Ah glad to hear he’s settling in well, was never in doubt he would. I miss him like crazy, was so difficult handing him over yesterday. One thing I forgot to mention was that he had a slight injury to his tail from before I had him that I think was just from wagging it against the bars in the kennels, you’ll probably find he gets really excited when you come home and wags his tail like he’s trying to take off so try not to let him hit it against door frames and stuff to give it time to heal. I was told it should be fine within a couple of months. Please keep me posted with how he’s getting on and I would love to see him again at a GAL event, place feels very empty without him!
hi shaiz knew you would be wondering about him, and we did notice his tail, but thankyou anyway, will post photos soon, and see you at the Christmas get together. you did a great job with him, well done, and thankyou again.
Delighted to hear Rebel is settling, he really is a cracking happy boy.
Its so hard to say goodbye to foster dogs but there is always another dog waiting for its first introduction to homelife and fostering is such a vital part of finding the right forever home for our wonderful dogs.

So great Rebel’s doing well. It definitely makes us fosterer’s lives easier when we hear how well the dogs are doing.
Its always sad to see them go. Well done for giving rebel a great start to his new life
P.S. One great way to get over a foster dog leaving is to get another one! lol
best,

Meant to add there are NO BARS on the kennels at GAL’s centre! Unlike most commercial kennels our centre was specially adapted from stables and each dog has a converted stable of their own as a living and sleeping area.

As someone who’s spent alot of time back and forth from the kennels in the past week, I can definitely say they’re one of the nicer ones I’ve been too. Also the dogs have a good sized grassy run to play in and Kathleen is brillant with giving the dogs kongs, toys, chews and exercise. I have no idea how she does it plus looking after her own lot. Made me tired just watching her!

Sorry people, I meant the kennels as in where young Reb was living when he was racing, not while he was with GAL. I met Kathleen when I picked up Reb and she was as much a fan of him as I am. His tail is just a bit dry looking but is healing well, just thought I’d mention it as when I first got him he used to hit it off the door frame and I noticed after a couple of days that he’d opened it up very slightly. Never seemed to bother him but from then on whenever I came home I’d take him straight into the middle of the living room to wag away without risking injuring his tail.

LOL, I am amazed Georgie’s tail hasn’t snapped in two he whacks it off door frames, walls, the radiators etc etc with alarming regularity. Its the sign of a happy dog but when they have thin or old damaged tails it is always a worry.

Coal doesn’t usual hit his tail off the walls but has managed to get Bruce in his personal bits a few times! Bruce is contemplating getting a sports cup to wear around the dogs when they’re excited LOL
