As Laura said in her post there was an urgent situation earlier in the week regarding a large number of dogs in desperate need. With a few greyhound charities pulling together the future for all these dogs is secure and bright.

Yesterday we collected one of these dogs, Floyd. He is settling in well and taking everything in his stride. He is a confident and happy boy with a tail that never stops wagging. He isn’t at all interested in Ozzy (despite his amorous advances!). Last night he slept downstairs, on his own and we didn’t hear a peep from him. He likes to sleep on a duvet in the hallway and seems quite independent although loves cuddles and attention. On his walk today he met four youngsters who all made a fuss of him while he stood there wagging!

This afternoon we popped over to my mums where he met one of her dogs, who also tried to mount him (hopefully once hs dangleberries are off this dominant behaviour, from other males will stop!). Poor lad was a bit perplexed but just walked away.

Apart from one little accident during the night he seems to know what the garden is for. He has been unfazed by household noises but has yet to meet the vacuum cleaner. Hopefully Ozzy won’t teach him any bad habits with that!

Another very handsome man! Glad I didn’t get him, he’s a ringer for my Mason, bless him.

Glad to hear all the hounds are now safe!! Floyd is a gorgeous boy. Love the pic of him with massive paws, it looks like he’s wearing a pair of big fluffy slippers!!

He is gorgeous, it was horrible when we went up on Thursday and could only take one dog.  Glad he is safe in a home.  grin

Floyd is gorgeous and a ringer for Mason! That’s a great name for him too. Took us ages to come up with one! He sounds like he has settled in with you all well.

He’s lovely!
My poor Coal has the same problem with being mounted and even after being snipped, still gets unwanted attention from other males. I’m convenienced he gives off a ‘sexy’ pheromone that other males like as their behaviour is more amorous than dominant.  Coal sends his wishes that Floyd doesn’t end up with the same problem smile

Poor Floyd had a day at the vets yesterday getting snipped, having 4 teeth removed and his gunky ears cleaned. He was remarkably alert when I collected him and has been dining on rice and scrambled eggs since.

During the week he was out walking with a medium sized crossbreed and today a cocker spaniel. He greeted both with a sniff and wagging tail but bothered neither there after. He walks great on the lead and loves going in the car. A couple of times we’ve taken him out just for the ride and both times when we’ve returned home he’s been a little reluctant to get out - nothing gets by him!

He’s proving to be housetrained and happily sleeps downstairs on the sofa (he doesn’t think we know) on his own, he’s yet to tackle the stairs. He’s been left for 2 hours on his own and another hour with Ozzy for company with no issues whatsoever. He’s not sure about the hoover but just moves to another room. He is beginning to spend more time in the living room with us and yesterday roached for the first time despite the discomfort he must have been in with the earlier op!

Don’t think I’d be remarkably alert after being snipped and having teeth out LOL

Lana still has problems with the stairs, if she starts with her front left paw she has to reverse and start again.  It has to be the right paw!

Glad Floyd is settling in so easily, shows how happy his surroundings are.  They always know when they are safe.

Fantastic Floyd went to his new foster home yesterday (this was always the plan as I have a very busy month ahead). Despite him only being here a few weeks it was really hard saying goodbye to him - although I know he’ll have an absolutely wonderful time at Elaines.

Last weekend we took him to a local dog show where he met just about every breed of dog from Great Dane to Dachund. He greeted all with a friendly sniff and waggy tail. He didn’t know what to make of the Borzois who was desperate to get him to play, so sensibly just moved away from her - she was a prima donna! He was exceptionally good with the two puppies he met, a 24 week old whippet hanging off his neck and a meek little terrier. Unfortunately we couldn’t stay long enough to enter him into any of the categories but his “I need a home” jacket gained him a lot of attention and i’m hopeful he’ll be in tomorrow’s local paper

Some more photos of him here: http://s224.photobucket.com/albums/dd225/pimpernil/Dogs/Floyd/

Good Luck Floyd!  He is such a beautiful boy hopefully he’ll get his forever home soon. Can’t have been easy handing him over Lea!
