We have now had the gruesome twosome for two weeks. I can’t believe it has actually been so long. Just thought I’d give you all a little update since a lot of you haven’t met my boys yet.

Charlie, our big black and white boy, is the most affectionate dog you could hope for. We say he looks like a stretched version of a border collie because of his markings. Weirdly enough, he actually has a bit of a thing for proper border collies. He met a pup at Paws in the Park and was trying to play with it; the pup, of course, looked terrified at this giant pouncing at him.

He is excitable with dogs but is calming down the more he meets and he adores Rocky and Meg, who are both pretty indifferent towards him. I think Joyce described him well at the Homeless Hound Parade, saying he has a head full of broken biscuits. He is so daft and does such stupid things all the time. He is constantly making us laugh and he is really no bother to have around at all. He will be great for a family as he is so gentle and will come and put his head on your lap whenever he wants a hug. He hasn’t even had one accident since we got him.

Rocky, our brindle boy, who was rescued from the shacks in Larkhall by Andy, is coming on great. He has the saddest eyes ever, which of course gets him anything he wants. Anyone who has met Elaine’s Christie - Rocky is her double, only a bit lighter in colour and, of course, bigger. He was terrified of his own shadow at first, especially people, but is coming out his shell. He has started wagging his tail at us and coming over for cuddles. He could stand all day and be stroked and he’s even de-squeaked a few toys. I had bought them for Meg and Charlie really because I didn’t think Rocky would take to them. Turns out, Charlie is too silly and doesn’t understand what to do with them!

He was at the vets to get neutered, dewormed and to get a lump removed (luckily nothing sinister!). He also had to have a dental. He had a grand total of 17 teeth taken out. He hadn’t been eating at all well for the first week we had him but the minute he has had his teeth out he is eating like a pig. Shows how sore he must have been before really. He is going to be a great pet for someone and it was such a waste for a family for him to be hidden away for so long.

Meg, as you can imagine, is still absolutely non-plussed by the big boys. She is the boss and they know it. She gets everything first and she gets whichever bed she pleases at whatever time. She’s a wee star and we couldn’t do what we do if she was any different.

Can’t believe Rocky is eating already. Shows how quickly they can recover. Hope the dental work hasn’t spoiled his good looks. I’m sure you won’t have Charlie long. Met him at Paws in the Park - what a stunner! Even if he does have “a head full of broken biscuits”, what a great expression!

Charlie maybe has a head full of broken biscuits, but he is also one of the nicest dogs I have met.

Rocky was one of the saddest, so it is nice to hear that he is coming on so well.

Thank goodness for fosterers!

Keep up the excellent work, Laura, the dogs and GAL are lucky to have you!
