THINGS TO CONSIDER

Adopting a rescue dog, whatever the breed, is rarely going to be a straightforward affair. In fact, introducing a new dog into your family could be fraught with many complications. Remember that these dogs can arrive with a considerable amount of ‘baggage’ caused by neglect, abuse, loneliness, stress, etc.

GAL re-home greyhounds/lurchers that come from various places. Some of our rescue dogs are surrendered by owners who, for many various reasons, cannot care for them any longer.  However, the majority of the dogs that GAL re-home come from one of the sporting backgrounds (racing, hunting or coursing). For these reasons re-homing a rescue dog is no small responsibility. It is very important that those considering re-homing a greyhound or a lurcher take many things into consideration before making the life-changing decision.

If you are considering adopting a greyhound please read our “Owners Guide” below.
