Amazing turn out for the August walk

02 August 2010

The August walk at Strathclyde Park today brought out a fantastic amount of GAL supporters with their lovely dogs.

The weather was great and the dogs walking in the park attracted a lot of attention.

The dogs made 2 new friends, Strathclyde Police horses, New York and Oban, who were patrolling the park.  The dogs, apart from little Jake, took it all in their stride and the police officers who were very impressed with the greyhounds and lurchers even took some gala posters to put on display in their stations.

Two lucky dogs went to permanent homes, Elaine was very sad to see the beautiful Lance leave for pastures new with Alex.  We wish this lovely boy the very best for his future with Alex and hope to see him making an appearance at the many GAL events held throughout the year.

It was a huge surprise (NOT) when Stan’s foster mum and dad, Lorna and Steve, decided that Stan had slotted in so well with their other dogs, that they should make his presence a permanent arrangement.  Lots of luck to Stan, but considering how well he has got on with all of Lorna and Steve’s visitors, we are sure he will not need it.

With only 3 weeks to go to the summer gala on 22nd August at Larkhall Leisure Centre, it is heads down to make sure that it is yet another GAL success.

The dogs keep coming to GAL to be rescued and so we must keep raising the cash and finding good homes for them.
