Spring Fayre
28 February 2010
The Greyhound Awareness League Spring Fayre and Fun Dog Show will take place at Larkhall Leisure Centre on Sunday 21st March between 12 noon and 4pm. With the event being opened by South Lanarkshire’s Provost, Mr Russell Clearie. Mr Clearie has been a supporter of GAL for some years now and we appreciate his attendance at our events.
There will be categories to suit all types of dogs in the show rings, whether they are hounds or not. ALL dogs are welcome to participate in the Fun Dog Show, with the chance to win a covetted rosette if your dog is placed 1st, 2nd or 3rd in any category, as well as a bag of JamesWellbeloved Kibble if you get through to the Best in Show! Many thanks for this kind donation http://www.wellbeloved.com
If you are creative then get busy and make (or buy) a spring themed outfit for your dog, or include yourself, and enter the fun category of Best Spring Themed Outfit.
Admitance is £2 per dog to the event, 2 legged entrants are free, with no one paying more than a fiver if they have lots of dogs. If you wish to enter your dog for any of the categories in the dog show, please have your pound coins ready to “chuck in the bucket”, as this saves on time during the event.
The GAL shop will be overloaded with goodies to buy for not only your four legged friends, but also yourself! A new order of dog coats has been shipped from America, and we also have some excellent winter coats at £20. Of course all of these coats and other GAL merchandise is available on ebay.
There will be the opportunity to buy some beautiful hand crafted jewellery, lovely birthday cards and of course the GAL cafe will be well stocked up with filled rolls and delicious home baking. All donations for the cafe would be very much appreciated. If you cannot bake then perhaps you could buy some cans of juice for us to sell, or even a big jar of coffee would be appreciated. Just let us know in advance what you are able to bring along, by emailing .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) Please title your email “Spring Fayre”.
If you would like to volunteer to help out on the day, that would be a great help. Again, please let us know in advance by emailing .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) Please title your email “Spring Fayre”.
There will be Hook - a - Duck with little prizes for all the kids!
HuggyHoundz are donating a lovley toy hound with its own certificate, which will be auctioned on the day. Many thanks to them for their generosity. http://www.huggyhoundz.co.uk/links.html
The Homeless Hound Parade is of course the main feature of the day, as it is a chance for GAL’s hounds looking for a home to show themselves off to their best advantage.
If you have never been to one of GAL’s big fund raising events, then this is the time to change that! You don’t know what you’ve been missing.
Remember that GAL is run entirley by volunteers, who give up their free time to raise funds and awareness for the dogs that we all feel so passionately about. These events take a lot of hard work and planning, so please come along and support us.
