Summer Gala and Fun Dog Show
20 August 2010
The Greyhound Awareness League’s Summer Gala and Fun Dog Show takes place on Sunday 22nd August at Larkhall Leisure Centre between 12 noon and 4pm, with doors opening at 11.30am.
The attractions will include 2 dog show rings for dogs of ALL shapes and sizes, not just greyhounds and lurchers. All dogs are welcome to take part in the fun categories of the dogs shows. Categories include, Best Black Dog, Best Juvenile Handler, Best Greyhound Dog, Best 6 Legs and more…. There will be rosettes for those placed 1st, 2nd and 3rd in each category, with a small prize for all the 1st’s! Arden Grange have been very generous in donating bags of their complete dry kibble to be given to Best in Show and Reserve Best in Show. A huge thanks to them for their generosity.
For the kids we have Face Painting, Hook-a-Duck and a wonderful prize tombola. The more grown-up attendees will also have a tombola and a great prize raffle. It’s not too late to donate raffle prizes, just bring along to the event! All donations will be very welcome. There will be hand crafted jewellery and cards, a book stall, the GAL cafe with wonderful home baking and tablet as well as tea/coffee and cold drinks and crisps. Filled rolls will also be available for anyone wishing to buy lunch. The GAL shop will be able to cater for all your four legged friends’ needs. GAL’s homing coordinator will be on hand to discuss our homing process.
Once again GAL would like to thank Mr Russell Clearie, South Lanarkshire’s Provost for his continuing support. Mr Clearie will open the gala and assist with the judging.
Thank you to our judges Ms Morag Robson and Mr Paul Hamilton.
Entrance to the hall is £2 per dog, with no one paying any more than £5 no matter how many dogs they bring along. Each category of the dog show entered is £1 - please bring along £1 coins to “chuck in the bucket”!
The Homeless Hound Parade is sure to bring a few tears as our lovely dogs enter the show rings to try and encourage someone to think of offering them a forever home.
Our special guest will be Lucy the “Robroyston Runaway”, who after living feral for some 18 months is living proof that not only can greyhounds overcome extreme adversity, but make great pets!
Come along and support a great cause, have a great day out and meet some wonderful dogs.
